Safety Centre
Last updated: 13 Oct 2026
In an emergency, call 999 (police) or 998 (ambulance). LocaVibe is not an emergency service and doesn’t monitor meetups.
Meet in public places, tell a friend where you’re going, and leave whenever something feels wrong. Report anyone who breaks our rules — we review safety reports within 24 hours.
Emergency numbers in the UAE
| Service | Number |
|---|---|
| Police | 999 |
| Ambulance | 998 |
| Fire (Civil Defence) | 997 |
| Dubai Police, non-emergency | 901 |
In the app, both 999 and 998 are always one tap away in Profile → Settings → Safety.
Safety tools in the app
- SOS. On the screen of an activity you’ve joined, SOS lets you call 999 and text your trusted contacts with your location. Trusted contacts are stored only on your phone.
- Share meetup with a friend. Send a trusted person a private link with the activity, place and time and, if you choose, your location. It expires 6 hours after the activity ends, and you can revoke it at any time.
- Selfie verification. A human moderator compares a live selfie with the profile photo. Look for the verified badge — it confirms the photo, not the person’s identity or intentions.
- Girls-only activities. Only women can create, see and join them.
- Age limits. LocaVibe is for adults 18+. Nightlife activities are visible only to people aged 21 and over.
- Requests. Hosts can make an activity “by request” and see each person’s profile, ratings and no-shows before saying yes.
- Report and block. Report a profile, activity, message or event in two taps. Blocking hides you from each other everywhere in the app.
- Ratings after meetups. Honest ratings and no-show marks help everyone see who really shows up.
Before you meet
- Check the host’s and participants’ profiles: verified badge, ratings, number of meetups and no-shows.
- Talk in the group chat first. Be careful with anyone who pushes to move the conversation elsewhere quickly or asks for money.
- Choose busy public places — cafés, malls, beaches with people around. We strongly recommend not meeting at private homes.
- Plan how you’ll get there and back, and keep your phone charged.
- Use Share meetup with a friend, and add trusted contacts for SOS in advance.
During the meetup
- Stay in public, keep your drink and belongings with you.
- Trust your instincts. You can leave at any time, for any reason — you don’t owe anyone an explanation.
- Don’t share your home address, financial details or documents, and don’t lend money.
- Alcohol only in licensed venues, only if you’re 21 or over, and only in moderation. Never pressure anyone to drink.
- For sport, beach days and desert or mountain trips: bring water, take the heat seriously and know your limits.
After the meetup
- Rate the meetup honestly — it helps the next person.
- If someone made you uncomfortable, report and block them. Reports are confidential: the person isn’t told who reported them.
- If you were hurt or threatened, contact the police first, then tell us so our moderators can act.
Spotting scams
- Nobody from LocaVibe will ever ask for your password, a code from an email or a payment by message.
- Buy tickets only through the official link on the event page. Be wary of anyone who asks you to pay them in advance for a ticket, a table or a trip.
- Watch for profiles that push investments, crypto, loans or “business opportunities” — report them.
How we keep the community safe
- Real people review reports, verification selfies and every partner event before it’s published.
- Safety reports are reviewed within 24 hours. We remove content and suspend or ban accounts that break our Community Guidelines.
- A banned-words filter blocks the most abusive content in names, activities and chats.
- Where the law requires it, or where someone is at risk, we cooperate with the UAE authorities.
